TRIDECO
TRIDECO is an environmentally-friendly, trivalent chromium plating process that deposits a bright decorative chromium layer over bright or satin nickel deposits. The TRIDECO process is highly tolerant to attack from calcium chloride containing salts, provides good metal distribution and significantly reduces the potential for high current density burning and “white wash” effects as are commonly witnessed with conventional hexavalent systems.
TRIDECO is a sulfate-based electrolyte and requires no metal catalysts, such as iron.
Therefore, the deposits plated from a TRIDECO electrolyte are pure Cr-deposits. This is a key difference compared to the chrome-iron alloys that are normally plated from a chloride-based electrolyte.
